Abstract
An underlying assumption of studies on social work practice is that effective or “good” practice must be rooted in an established theoretical foundation, and without this foundation, the quality of the practice suffers. The author challenges this assumption and presents an alternative model—a commonsense, humanistic, and reflective approach that represents the actual nature of effective helping. Keywords
