Abstract
To the Editor: In their article on microvascular disease of the foot in diabetes (Dec. 20, 1984, issue),1 LoGerfo and Coffman state, "There is a widespread misconception that patients with diabetes mellitus have arteriolar occlusive disease, which can cause ischemic lesions even in the presence of normal pedal pulses." They attribute this misconception to our early study,2 which they state has not been confirmed. A subsequent letter (May 2, 1985, issue)3 supports their finding that blood flow is not impaired in the small vessels of the lower limbs of diabetic patients without macrovascular disease.These two studies differ from . . .Keywords
