Abstract
A two‐species model for the liquid proposed by Klement in order to account for the existence of high‐pressure melting‐curve maxima is further examined from the point of view of the theory of regular solutions. Equations for the concentration of the two species as a function of pressure and temperature are derived. A survey of structural data on liquids provides positive evidence for the existence of two species in the melts of some pure substances. Keywords
