Abstract
SUMMARY: The calcium excretion and concentration in thermal sweat was found to be significantly higher in thyrotoxic patients than in controls or treated thyrotoxic patients. In the thyrotoxic patients there was a correlation between the excretion of calcium in the sweat and the urinary excretion of calcium. Significant amounts of calcium may be lost in the sweat in thyrotoxicosis and losses by this route must be taken into account in calcium balance studies.
