Abstract
A microprocessor-based system for processing redundant instrumentation signals is proposed. The prototype of the system has been produced using general-purpose microprocessors. The system can provide a complex trip function in place of a conventional hardwired simple 2 out of 3 trip circuit. Self testing and fail safe features are included in the system. The feasibility of the system is assessed by simulated operation tests. The results indicate the satisfactory features of the system in respect to program execution speed and reliability. Keywords
