Abstract
This article, which is a continuation of one appearing in the previous issue of Physics Education (July 1966, 1, 107), describes in some detail the character of the Educational Testing Service `Advanced Placement Examination' used in the experiment. It discusses the problems which arose when marking that section of the scripts which were not of the `multiple-choice' type and the extent to which these were inherent in the examination. It discusses also the different functions, and relative merits, of the A-level and E.T.S. tests and considers the possibility, and desirability, of making changes in the English system. Keywords
