Abstract
Three cases of chronic leukemia (one lymphatic and two myeloid) with adrenocortical insufficiency are described. Treatment with corticosteroids in moderate dosage resulted in longstanding clinical improvement in two of the cases, which could not be explained by hematologic remissions. In one case, inveterate and recent lesions were found at autopsy in the adrenal cortex; in another case only moderate adrenal lesions were present, but the anterior lobe of the hypophysis was occupied by massive leukaemic infiltrations. In the remaining case significant lesions were not found in the adrenals, the hypophysis was not examined. Awareness and therapy of adrenocortical insufficiency in chronic leukemia is stressed. Keywords
