Abstract
The history and development of hydrophilic contact lenses is described. The author continues with an account of his experiments to produce a lens with a higher water content and a higher oxygen flow rate through the lens. This has been achleved and many patients are now wearing lenses made from this material for over a year without removal.Keywords
