Abstract
THE high incidence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis in females as compared to males has been repeatedly confirmed since the original description of the disease in 19121 in 4 patients, all middle-aged women. The female proponderance is also true for the occurrence of thyroid antibody in several control series,2 , 3 and for the incidence of focal thyroiditis in histologic studies by Bastenie4 and Williams and Doniach.5 Because of this, the occurrence of thyroiditis in a patient with primary gonadal failure described by Engel and Forbes6 was of particular interest, and prompted a clinical survey of a group of 25 cases of gonadal dysgenesis . . .Keywords
