Abstract
At liquid‐nitrogen temperature, in glassy matrices, self‐associated alcohols exhibit two bands in the region of the first overtone of the OH stretching vibration. The one of lower frequency is shown to be the overtone, and the one of higher frequency a band due to simultaneous excitation by one quantum in two OH groups linked by hydrogen bonding. Keywords
