Vertical, Subtotal Laryngectomy and Laryngoplasty: Review of Experience

Abstract
Partial laryngectomy with bipedicle sternohyoid muscle flap laryngoplasty is reviewed with regard to technique and indications. Results are analyzed in a group of 31 consecutive patients who were treated in this manner, and who are now more than three years postoperative. Twenty eight patients are alive and free of tumor. The five failures of treatment are analyzed from the standpoint of errors in surgical technique or in the planning of therapy.
