Abstract
The first of what it is hoped will be a regular series of trade exhibitions of British scientific instruments and apparatus took place in London from 4-14 July, 1951, with the active support of the five cognate trade associations. In this specially contributed article, some observations are made about the development of the industry in this country and the influence of industrial instruments on the design of research apparatus and vice versa. Reference is made to some of the more important exhibits.
