Abstract
Summary.: Cholinergic sympathetic vasodilator fibres supply the muscles of the hindlimbs of the cat.The chemical transmission at sympathetic vasodilator nerve endings is discussed. The suggestion is made that the chemical transmission is exclusively cholinergic. The existence of adrenergic vasodilator fibres is seriously questioned. No support was found for the view that histaminergic vasodilator fibres occur in the sympathetic outflow of the cat. This study was supported by a grant to one of the authors (B. U.) from the Swedish Medical Research Council. The authors are indebted to Sandoz A. G., Basel for a generous supply of di‐hydroergotamine. Keywords
