Abstract
A continuing programme of work investigating the use of a therapeutic method in helping lecturers cope with anxiety induced by the formal lecturing situation is outlined. The method, involving relaxation, positive suggestion, and success imagery (RSI) is described, and empirical evidence relating to its effectiveness with student teachers and tertiary level lecturers is presented. The highly positive nature of the results gained from this work would suggest use of the therapeutic approach as one possible means of improving the standard of lecturing in tertiary institutions.
