Abstract
Based on the detailed treatment of electron capture by Thomas, new limits for energy transfer are proposed in the Gryzinski model. It is shown that a simple correction for the angular spread of the ejected electrons can be applied to improve the calculated cross sections. Limitations and shortcomings of earlier work along these lines are discussed. Calculations are presented for single-electron capture from rare gases by incident protons in the energy range 10-500 keV. The results are found to be in good agreement with experimental observations.
