Effet du plomb atmospherique sur le foie et les reins des pigeons de La Ville de Madrid

Abstract
In this work effects of atmospheric lead on dwelling pigeons in Madrid are evaluated. Lead has been determined in hepatic and renal samples of animals from eight locations with different traffic densities and correlated with histological observations. Hepatic and renal lead concentrations are respectively 20 and 10 times higher for urban pigeons than for rural ones. Renal tissues containing more than 30 μg‐g−1 (dry weight) present inclusions in proximal convoluted tubules, the more as Pb concentration is high. These animals exhibit also moderate hepatic hemosiderosis.
