Abstract
Studies have been carried out which give information regarding some factors influencing the bactericidal activity of N-chloro compounds in aqueous soln. The pH affected the bactericidal activity of such solns. by determining the degree of hydrolysis of the N-chloro compound and the extent of ionization of the resulting hypochlorous acid. When increasing amts. of the N compound were added to solns. of the N-chloro derivative, the bactericidal activity decreased to a limit which was regarded as the activity of the unhydrolyzed N-chloro compound. This activity varied within wide limits for various N compounds. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
