Abstract
IN his classic monograph on the pituitary gland published in 1912 Harvey Cushing1 described the case of a young woman with a disorder that has come to bear his name. The patient suffered from headaches and backache. She was obese about the head, neck and trunk, but her extremities were thin. Her back was bent over, her complexion was florid, and she suffered from hirsutism, amenorrhea and diabetes. He suggested that the disease was in some way related to the pituitary gland but also recognized that the adrenal glands might be involved because he found at least 1 similar case . . .Keywords
