Abstract
A review is made of the underlying principles of the ultrasonic technique and a current critical evaluation is made of the utility of echocardiography in [human] cardiac disease. Current applications include study of normal mitral valve motion, mitral stenosis, aortic regurgitation, atrial masses, mitral valve prolapse, idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis, tricuspid valve abnormalities, aortic valve disease, pulmonic valve, pericardial effusion, constrictive pericarditis, interventricular septal motion, left ventricular function, ischemic heart disease, prosthetic valves and congenital heart disease. This publication has 28 references indexed in Scilit:
