Recent Cancer Research

Abstract
This address reviews the progress of human and animal cancer research, particularly of the past 20 years, and refers to the author''s previously unpublished work in which, for the 1st time, he has observed tumor-bearing cysts produced in the pith of sunflower stems by inoculating the crowngall organism into young flower heads by needle pricks without injection. Cavities are formed, lined with a fine-celled membrane covered with hairs like those on the surface. They are subtended by vascular bundles having reversed polarity. The tumors on the walls of these cysts are discrete or fused and frequently are of considerable size, stretching and rupturing the cysts.
