Experimental Studies on The Life Cycle of A Lizard Pentastomid

Abstract
In previous reports (Lavoipierre & Lavoipierre, 1965, Med. J. Malaya 20: 72; Lavoipierre & Lavoipierre, 1966, Nature 210: 845) we provided evidence that the American cockroach, Periplaneta americana, is an intermediate host of the gecko pentastomid, Raillietiella hemidactyli, in Singapore. Our conclusions were based on ecological data and on a comparison of parasites dissected both from the invertebrate and vertebrate hosts. Since this work was published we have studied experimentally some aspects of the life cycle of the parasite and a brief summary of our investigations is given here.
