Analyses of Mixtures of Light Gases by Infra-Red Absorption

Abstract
A discussion is given of the application of infra‐red absorption methods of analysis for light gases which do not obey Beer's law of absorption due to pressure broadening. Some of these gases do not obey Beer's law in the pure state or when contaminated by foreign gases. The method of analysis depends upon the nature and intensity of the pressure broadening effect of the different components in the sample upon each other. Data are presented showing the nature of some of these effects and illustrating the accuracy obtainable for certain types of analyses. The instrumentation used in routine gas analyses by infra‐red in this laboratory is described.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
