Abstract
We present linearized augmented-plane-wave calculations for FeCu fcc and bcc metastable phases using the local-density approximation (LDA) as well as the local-spin-density approximation (LSDA). The nonpolarized density of states calculated within the framework of LDA together with the reformulated Stoner theory provide results in excellent agreement with those obtained from LSDA calculations. The magnetization is calculated for several alloy compositions—the magnetic moment per Fe atom is almost constant over a wide range of Fe content—in good agreement with recent experiments. Keywords
