A Generalization of Yang and Lee's Theory of Condensation

Yang and Lee's theory of phase transitions is extended to include a wider class of potential energy functions. In particular, it is shown that the theory does not require a potential with a hard core; the repulsive part of the potential need only be greater than $\frac{1}{r^n}$; $n\geqq 11.4$.
