BLOOD PICTURE, REPRODUCTION, AND GENERAL CONDITION DURING DAILY EXPOSURE TO ILLUMINATING GAS

Abstract
Chronic CO poisoning was induced in albino rats by repeated exposures for 1 hr. daily to an air-illuminating gas mixture containing 0.34% CO. The Hb % and cell plasma ratio became and remained significantly high. After 200 days experimental period, red cell fragility was slightly increased. Both [male] and [female] rats became sterile after prolonged treatment, the [male] earlier than the [female]. The deleterious influences of the poison in all respects studied were greater in the [male] than in the [female].
