Abstract
A structural carbon based composite has been investigated for its high temperature (25°C to 75°C) viscoplastic properties using the data obtained from load relaxation and creep. A constitutive model to describe the elastic/viscoplastic behavior of the composite was implemented. Experimental procedures required to generate the necessary materials constants are explained. Correlation between the experimental and predicted creep behavior at different levels of stresses and at different temperatures was performed. Results indicated that the model provided reasonable predictions of material behavior in load controlled creep tests at early stages of the creep. As the temperature is increased the prediction of the model deviates from the experimental results. Keywords
