Abstract
The HPLC technique has been applied to the identification and estimation of individual isomers of model mono- and di-sulfidic pendent groups. Extensive analysis of the products of the reactions of model crosslinks was achieved by a combination of HPLC and GLC, and many of the results are summarized in Figure 2. The products comprised model crosslinks, model monosulfidic pendent groups, and olefins. The effects of temperature, solvent, and vulcanization residues upon the yields of these products were determined for models for crosslink precursors at the methyl and both methylene sites in the polyisoprene chains of natural rubber.Keywords
