Abstract
The hepatic vein catheterization technic was used to investigate changes in splanchnic circulation and metabolism after hexamethonium Br in 17 subjects. In 15 subjects splanchnic blood flow fell in proportion to the fall in arterial blood pressure. No change occurred in splanchnic vascular resistance, indicating that there was no splanchnic vasodilatation. In 2 subjects splanchnic blood flow rose together with a fall in splanchnic vascular resistance. Splanchnic O2 consumption, hepatic glucose output, and arterial glucose and lactic acid concns. were not significantly altered. Keywords
