Abstract
Summary An enzmelinked immunosorbent assay was developed for detection of antibodies in rainbow troui (Oncorhus mykiss) to Yersinia ruckeri, the causative agent of enteric redmouth disease. The test proved to be more sensitive than the agglutination test, but still allowed detection of antibodies in only a very small percentage of immersion-vaccinated trout. In passive immunization studies it was shown that humoral factors may play a significant role in protective immunity after immersion vaccination with Yersinia ruckeri bacterins. Keywords
