Ethnicity and Aging: A Comment

Abstract
Holzberg's (1982) suggestions that certain articles or studies in the area of ethnicity and aging ignore cultural factors at the expense of socioeconomic factors and minority status and that they are insensitive to heterogeneity among ethnic groups — including whites — are deemed unfounded. The studies are defended on the basis of their interest in minority status per se rather than the broader concept of ethnicity. It is concluded — in general agreement with Holzberg — that little is known about the influence of cultural factors on patterns of aging.
