Abstract
This paper is a response to the recent debate conducted in JET relating to teacher education and national examinations in Papua New Guinea. This rejoinder strongly supports the encouragement of such internationally informed debate, but draws attention to important issues concerning the nature of comparative and international studies in education. An effort is also made to add to the analysis of teacher education in Papua New Guinea in the light of criticism made in the original commentaries. Keywords
