Electron-phonon Interactions Beyond The Adiabatic Limit: Dynamical Mean Field Theory and Application to Correlated Electron Systems
Abstract
The dynamical mean field method is used to derive a general formalism for studying electron-phonon interactions beyond the adiabatic (Migdal) limit. The formalism is used to calculate the isotope effect on the electron effective mass. Isotope effects of the magnitudes observed in several correlated electron systems are shown to imply that the materials in question are near a lattice instability. Keywords
