Abstract
A patient of blood type A1 developed brisk, but transient, hemolysis after receiving a platelet transfusion derived from 4 group O donors. Anti-A was detected on his red cells and plasma. Two of the platelet donors had very high titers (1:10,240) of anti-A and positive hemolysin tests. A hemolytic reaction can result from transfusion of incompatible plasma in a platelet concentrate. Keywords
