Abstract
Ultrasonic characteristics of hepatic adenoma and carcinoma in 7 patients with Type l glycogen storage disease (von Gierke disease) are described. Adenomas are frequently found in patients who survive to adolescence and young adulthood. Serial studies showed progression of disease, with presumed transformation of adenoma into carcinoma in 1 patient. When applicable, ultrasound compared favorably to radionuclide scintigraphy. Hepatic ultrasonography is an accurate, safe and relatively inexpensive method of follow-up in patients with Type l glycogen storage disease. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
