Studies in purine metabolism

Abstract
The chemical nuclear-plasmic ratio, or ratio, of purine N to total N, was determined in whole frogs at various months throughout a year. The ratio was approximately double that of mammals. It was highest from May to Jan., falling slightly during the periods of winter-sleep and of hunger and sexual activity which follow it. These results do not indicate the existence of specific reserve protein in the cytoplasm of the frog.
