Multicomponent Kinetic Methods

Abstract
Methods in use for the resolution of multiple species reacting on the same time scale are reviewed. The different approaches can be divided into two categories. The first is for the resolution of mixtures when large rate constant differences are involved, while the second is for mixtures of species with small rate constant differences. This latter approach is the more involved, and is the focus of this review. Popular historical approaches to this problem are discussed, and the principles behind modern methods are described. Applications utilizing the various approaches are given, followed by some conclusions regarding the current status of multicomponent kinetic methods.
