Abstract
Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) was used successfully to treat coarctation restenosis in 7 patients. The patients were 10 mo. to 17 yr old at the time of the angioplasty, and the initial coarctation repair was performed 10 mo. to 16.5 yr previously. PTA reduced the systolic pressure gradient across the coarctation from a mean of 58 mm Hg before the procedure to a mean of 13 mm Hg immediately after PTA. Follow-up was from 1 to 14 mo. and indicates that the decrease in the systolic pressure gradient is persistent. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
