Hypertension Control at the Work Site

Abstract
Systematic care without direct patient cost was provided in a socially cohesive context. Almost all patients achieved long-term adherence to treatment, and 80% maintained good blood pressure control for as long as 2 yr. Features of successful programs are a systematic approach, concerned therapists and ready access to care. In this work-site based program, social cohesion also appears to enhance the efficacy of medical care. Free medication given directly to the patient with personalized dosage instructions probably further facilitates compliance. The pressure decline achieved may be associated with reduced morbidity and mortality.
