Lifetime of the First Excited State of $K^{40}$

Abstract

The first excited state of

K^{40}

at 29.4 kev has been produced by using the reaction

A^{40} (p, n) K^{40}

. Its mean life, measured by a pulsed-beam technique, is 5.6±0.5 mμsec.
