Abstract
The time-space cross-correlation function of speckle intensity variations produced by a moving diffuse object is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Using the cross-correlation function, the statistical behavior of dynamic speckle is studied in connection with the illumination conditions of the object and the optical setup applied for the formation of speckle patterns. Three states of the speckle translation across the observational plane (i.e. boiling, pure translation and modified translation of speckle) are also studied theoretically and experimentally in actual optical systems. General consideration for the formation of dynamic speckle is deduced from the theoretical and experimental studies of the speckle cross-correlation functions in the actual optical systems. Keywords
