Comparison of Fusarium Populations in Grasslands of Minnesota and Iceland

Abstract
Six species of Fusarium were found in both Minnesota [USA] and Icelandic soils; F. oxysporum predominated in Minnesota but F. roseum predominated in Iceland. The order of prevalence of Fusarium spp. differed in the 2 locations but the 6 spp. occurred as frequently on roots as in soil in each location except for F. episphaeria which in Iceland was common in soil but not in grass roots. Of the F. roseum cultivars on roots, ''Avenaceum'' and ''Graminearum'' predominated in Minnesota and ''Acuminatum'' in Iceland; however in Icelandic soil, ''Sambucinum'' predominated.
