Abstract
Platysma regrowth after platysma cervical lift is a new complication. Apparently the platysma reestablishes itself by hypertrophy of muscle fibers contained in its posterior SMAS [superficial musculoaponeurotic system] sheath and by muscle regrowth along the posterior sheath. Platysma and posterior sheath are routinely cut. Excision of anterior platysma not connected to the posterior sheath is also recommended. Closure of platysma should be from the mentum to the upper thyroid cartilage utilizing nonabsorbable sutures. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
