Growth and Differentiation of a Transplantable Plasmacytoma

Abstract
Growth of the S7 plasmacytoma decelerated during a 4-week period of growth after tumors appeared in histocompatible mice. The weight of the hosts increased rapidly during the early stage of tumor growth, reached a plateau, and then rose at a diminishing rate. As a generality, the serum γ-globulin concentration appeared to increase linearly with time. Persistence of differentiated cells within the tumor can account for rising γ-globulin levels in the serum and a relative reduction of the growth fraction within the tumor.
