Abstract
Larvae that were extracted from two series of hyporheic samples collected from a southern Ontario stream showed that Parachaetocladius abnobaeus is univoltine. Small larvae appeared in early June, grew during the summer and overwintered in the fourth instar. Emergence occurred in April, at which time pupae reared in the laboratory allowed identification. Ontario larvae and pupae differ slightly from those that have been described elsewhere, and details of these differences are given. The larvae penetrate deeply into the substratum, but most occurred near the surface. They occurred near the bank from May to November, and towards the middle of the stream from December to May.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
