Abstract
A 39 dB-gain silica fibre Raman amplifier is demonstrated at 1.3 µm using a 1064 nm pump. Cascaded Raman generation and amplification are achieved in a monolithic ring cavity constructed solely from conventional fibre components, i.e. fusion WDM couplers and standard silica fibre. Keywords
