Occurrence of Microorganisms in Saliva and Gingival Crevice in HIV-1-infected Patients

Abstract
Microorganisms from saliva and gingival crevice and peripheral numbers of T4 + lymphocyte subsets were analysed in 30 patients with different stages of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. Ten healthy persons served as controls. There were no significant differences in the occurrence of microorganisms in saliva or gingival crevices between the three patient groups and the control group.
