Abstract
Some common surgical procedures, practised to improve the function of the rheumatoid hand, have been subjected to a prospective and objective evaluation. This analysis has been based on the concept of the assessment of hand function by measurement of individual digital forces and the results clearly justify surgical intervention. In addition, function is improved in those digits belonging to the hand operated upon but not themselves undergoing surgery.Keywords
