Abstract
A closed loop of parallel-wire or coaxial transmission line is shown to be a suitable system for observing the interaction of an electromagnetic field with certain types of general relativistic field. Such a device constitutes a transmission-line gyroscope and, in common with other forms of ring gyroscope, may be conveniently analysed by the method of conjugate functions. When operated resonantly with a propagating electromagnetic field, the transmission-line gyroscope represents a generalised form of ring-laser device in which photon number as well as phase effects are observable. Keywords
