Abstract
Interactive media should be seen in the social and historical context of the media generally. It is important to do this in order to avoid the mistakes that generally flow from evaluating technologies in narrow technical terms, to emphasize that interactive media are a development of existing media and require similar skills in their production, and to facilitate evaluation of interactive media in the light of the role of museums in society. Keywords
