Polyglycolic Acid Sutures in Cataract and Extraocular Muscle Surgery

Abstract
Dexon was used as suture material in 26 cases [human] of cataract surgery and 46 cases of extraocular muscle surgery. It was better than chromic catgut in muscle surgery, since it produced less conjunctival irritation and no granulomas. In cataract surgery it caused a pronounced irritation of the anterior segment and rather often a severe uveitis, probably because the sutures were external.
